Love - Stella Beaulieu & Teresa Eckel

Valentine’s Day was just the start of some exciting culture & entertainment coming up in our community. Juliann Kuchocki headlined the “Love ‘n’ Music” concert at St. James United Church in Simcoe. The afternoon also doubled as Juliann’s latest CD launch celebration. It was an eclectic mix of Jazz tunes to show tunes, and our personal favourite was “Someone to Watch Over Me.” Juliann said: “It was a day for lovers, for loving music – music is very important in communities and in life. It has a lot of healing powers in it for life. It’s a proven mind-boosting tool. One of focuses this years is to work with the Alzheimers Society and part of the money will be going there for Music for Memory. When I look back at my best memories growing up, it always involved music.”

And this is just the beginning. There’s a major happening coming up in and around our community: Canada’s Cornucopia. Juliann is also the founder of South Coast Jazz which so many of you have been enjoying, and she’s now spearheading this new cultural and entertainment effort with her team.

It’s a big year coming up with “Canada’s Cornucopia” around Norfolk, Haldimand & Six Nations. They’re also sending people to Brantford with recommendations. Canada’s Cornucopia’s Canada 150 Event will take place in 4 different towns. Some of the participant locations that are already planned include: The Port Dover Arena, Six Nations Fair, The Drilling Rig Museum in Selkirk, Port Dover Harbour Museum, a Beer Tent in Downtown Port Dover beside Halmo Jewelers and across from Port Dover Apothecary, The Norfolk Arts Centre, Burning Kiln Winery, Apple Hill Lavender, and more locations to be announced.

Juliann said: “It will include Jazz, Blues, Native, Rock… we’re going to have it all. There will also be a film viewing room. We’ll feature lots of film on Canada, music in Canada, history of Canada. Will also include original films from original Canadian film makers and films from the National Film Board. We even have a kid’s passport – there will be something for everyone. We’re going to have a lot of vendors and are still looking for more vendors and sponsors for this major happening. Current sponsors include TD Bank (youth program), snapd Haldimand-Norfolk, Easy 101 & Country 107.3.”

Ryan Szucs & Carrie Kitzul Valentine’s Day was just the start of some exciting culture & entertainment coming up in our community. When I look back at my best memories growing up, it always involved music.” And this is just the beginning. There’s a major happening coming up in and around our community: Canada’s Cornucopia. Juliann is also the founder of South Coast Jazz which so many of you have been enjoying, and she’s now spearheading this new cultural and entertainment effort with her team. Current sponsors include TD Bank (youth program), snapd Haldimand-Norfolk, Easy 101 & Country 107.3.” There’s far too much to cover here, so for updates, tickets and information added as it becomes available, make sure you visit: South Coast Cultural Society www.SouthCoastCulturalSociety.com South Coast Jazz www.SouthCoastJazz.com Insider’s tip: snapd Haldimand-Norfolk is already lined up for some great contest and giveaways, so make sure you also follow us at: www.facebook.com/snapdhn Photography and Event Coverage: Dan Wiest © 2017 Daniel G. Will also include original films from original Canadian film makers and films from the National Film Board. We even have a kid’s passport – there will be something for everyone.
